MOROCCO RELEASES 415 ASSASSINS
King of Morocco Mohammed VI is reported as having pardoned 415 terrorists serving up to life sentences in the North African country. Xinhua News Agency, with reference to the statement of the Morocco Ministry of Justice, says, “Among the pardoned, there are several people who were convicted of terrorist acts in Casablanca in 2003. Then 45 people died, including 12 suicide bombers.
The Justice Ministry’s statement stresses that all the pardoned “officially declared their adherence to the immutable values and national institutions of the country, declared their rejection of extremism and terrorism and demonstrated good behaviour in prison.”
At its narrowest point, Morocco is just 9 miles distant from Europe (Spain). Gibraltar, in Arabic, is known ominously as Bab Al Maghrib (Arabic: باب المغرب) or Gate of the West.”
