According to media reports, state police in Saxony shut down a music concert after hundreds of people in the crowd started chanting the banned National Socialist slogan, Sieg Heil!
According to a police statement, the concert took place in Ostritz and featured two bands from what they call ‘the right-wing scene’. State Law enforcement felt they had to intervene after hearing patriotic cries coming from the venue at 11:20 pm. Police have since opened an investigation.
Witnesses also reported hearing the taboo Sieg Heil chants, according to reports. Under the American imposed constitution German law prohibits slogans relating to the democratically elected National Socialist German Workers Party (NSDAP) government (1933 – 1945). It is also forbidden to display the internationally revered ancient Swastika symbol.
Ostritz is a town in the Gorlitz district of the ‘Free State of Saxony’, which is situated near the country’s border with Poland. Although the origins of the Aryan salute were popular in anti-Communist countries and attributed to ancient Rome and medieval Germany, the gesture was first introduced in modern times by the Christian socialist reformer Francis Bellamy, author of the US Pledge of Allegiance. In US schools in the first decades of the 20th century, schoolchildren would stand and salute the nation’s flag while pledging their loyalty in unison.
Unlike the permitted clenched fist of the Left, the ancient National Socialist / Fascist raised an open hand is a peace gesture. Those giving it come in peace; the raised arm and hand clearly show no weapon is carried.
As Bellamy advised, “every pupil gives the flag the military salute, right hand lifted, palm downward, to align with the forehead and close to it.”
Both Boeing and Coca-Cola with other corporate brands have used the swastika to promote their products. The symbol was also used on cards to raise funds in Britain to finance the Great War (1914 – 1918) In 1942, anxious American legislators replaced the gesture with the practice of placing your hand over your heart, which survives in US public schools to this day.
