When the mother of my sons died on June 16 my grown-up boys volunteered to remember their mum (and me) by paying for my last pilgrimage to the Reich’s iconic shrines in Austria and Bavaria.

Suzanne for years had been a much-loved mainstay of the British (National Socialist) Movement.  She too loved Berchtesgaden, Königssee, Eagles Nest, and Obersalzberg where Adolf Hitler and the NSDAP’s political leaders had their summer homes. Although it couldn’t be planned that way, Suzanne’s funeral by chance took place on this same day as our visit to Eagles Nest.

We visited the Austrian-German frontier town Braunau am Inn to see the humble home where the Reich’s twice-elected President-Chancellor was born.

Keeping costs to a minimum as you do when your running on charity, we enjoyed a wonderful evening at Munich’s Hofbräuhaus where Bavarian bands played. The inside halls are empty; I spend a nostalgic few minutes talking about the good times in the past.

Being culture vultures, we delighted in visiting Salzburg. It was here that Mozart was born, and of course, we followed the fuhrer’s footsteps by visiting the Great Dom of Salzburg.

Never mentioned by mainstream or palace historians, it was Hitler’s NSDAP that founded the now internationally acclaimed Salzburg Music Festivals; an annual celebration of Europe’s great musicians and their music.

When in 1980 I was released following my imprisonment for ‘inciting race hate’ for my daring to publish an innocuous sticker proclaiming ‘race-mixing destroys our people’, Suzanne and I had compensated for my months of misery behind bars by doing our ‘sacred tour’.

Everything has changed since my previous odyssey. Country lanes are now fast-moving motorways, villages have become sprawls surrounded by industrial estates.

Everywhere there are CCTV cameras recording even a visit to the loo, you can’t drive a kilometre or two in Spain, France, Switzerland, Austria or Italy without purchasing a road toll pass. Penalised for innocence: we were fined €120 ($135) in Austria for neglecting to purchase a road-toll vignette; it was one fiscal ambush after another. When stopped, the state’s highwayman, for this is what they are, were dealing with several other hapless motorists at the same time.

Compassion or understanding by the avaricious authorities and tourism sector is a thing of the past. A simple mistake in a confusion of road works in Italy led to a €120 on-the-spot fine.

Our pilgrimage wasn’t without drama; indeed, my wife and I often looked at each other and said, ‘what on earth is next’.

Above: Berchtesgaden, I am standing at the memorial of those young men and women who gave their lives for Europe free of Bolshevism and the insatiable greed of the usurious capitalist slave-system.

Unsurprisingly, days on the road and walking on Shank’s pony resulted in calamity. Let’s face it; I am getting on in years. During this same week, old comrades, Fredrick Toben, whom I first met in Washington DC in 2000, and Eddy Morrison, whom I had accompanied in the struggle for 52 years, died; I felt like literally the last survivor of a dying breed.

MUNICH CRISIS II: To save money we returned June 30 to our modest hotel in Munich by subway. Exhausted, I got to my feet to alight the train at Moosfeld when my head spun and as my legs turned to jelly I crumpled.

My wife barely managed to get me on to the platform before the train moved away. Unconscious and lying on the platform of a late night deserted subway station, once can well imagine the sense of desolation felt by my wife. A massive drop in blood pressure is often a killer. In fact, the fall to the floor saved my life.

Alone, 2,000km away in a country she has never before visited and unable to speak German, her phone isn’t working. A German gentleman helped me and my wife. Recovering but still weak and close to close to collapse, my wife then gave me the soldier’s shoulder to our hotel 1km distant.

It was all too much for our 13-year old Ford too. We were 95km south of Salzburg when horrifyingly, a major fault occurred in the engine, transmission, or wheels. The car was shuddering, vibrating and losing power fast. The unfolding drama was accompanied by an appalling stink of burning rubber; frapping suggested one or perhaps two burning tyres.

Pulling over to the hard shoulder as traffic scorched past; we grabbed our yellow vests and triangles but couldn’t find an apparent fault.  I decided to limp into the nearest towns to see if I could find a hotel to use the internet (we had lost our internet/phone connections).

A biker by name and nature named Christian helped by calling Ford main dealers in the nearest town. Sadly, the garage was closed until Monday, the hotel was closed (Covid), no police station, we were up the Khyber without a paddle.

20200702_175432

My wife suggested carrying on and to see what happens there being no alternative. Oddly, our car seemed to have recovered and from there on performed flawlessly for the 2,000km + ride home. It is the only car in the world to self-repair; it is beyond comprehension or explanation. I never did discover evidence of a fault.

20200702_175748

Our pilgrimage lasted 10 days and took us along a network of 5,000 km of EU highways and byways. Europe has changed but not for the better; far from it. It was my last pilgrimage; thank you, my dear sons. And may the gods be kind to you in Valhalla, my self-sacrificing Suzanne. No one deserves tribute than do you; few can today set such example of giving, self-sacrifice and duty to our race.

You were loved not only by members of the British Movement, the party’s Leader Guard and its 2,000 members; you were appreciated by everyone during those years of relentless impoverished struggle. R.I.P. Suzanne. ~ Michael Walsh

  • Thank you Mike, for sharing this beautiful, but sad story. My heart felt condolences; losing a spouse of a lifetime is bound to be the hardest of experiences. How lucky you were to have had each other.

Death is just an illusion and loving hearts are inseparable. You will meet, again.

What a trip you had! Reminds me of leaving Slovakia and travelling through the West of Europe to England, with all my belongings, starting with Austria. Austria and France, 1982, the epitome of blind bureaucracy with no regards to human trauma. I was traumatised by the sheer thought of any travel, since. How well I can relate to what you describe. God brought you safely home, when your car played up.

Some of us had to live not on, but below the poverty line. It taught me that there are other things in life, albeit the unlawful withdrawal of what was needed for bare survival, was another hard test.

Unfortunately, it is the crude ignorants, who like to express personal opinions on social platforms, but you need to know that there are many who appreciate your lifetime’s work and that we love you for your spirit.

    Please look after yourself.

  • Dear Mike,

I feel you. I feel with you.
    How sad we can get…

And I feel the feeling you must have had each time you visited those places. Do you feel that I and others feel that with you? The more we learn about the true history, the more determined we get to revive this! I am certainly planning to have such a pilgrimage. I am sure I will feel extremely strange and marvelous when in those places.

    Take care.

    Best regards.

    Dear Mike,
My condolences to you and your family over the passing of your first wife Suzanne. She must have been a wonderful woman. How many women do you see these days that support their man’s struggle for the future of ethnic Europeans even though it leads to nil financial gain, ,imprisonment and media scorn. These are the sort of women we need right now in the war which is being waged against us.
