Payments can happen cheaply and easily without banks or credit card companies, as has already been demonstrated, not in the United States but in China. Unlike in the U.S., where scavenging banks feast on fat fees from handling and processing payments, in China, most money flows through mobile phones nearly for free. In 2018 these cashless payments totaled a whopping $41.5 trillion; and 90% were through Alipay and WeChat Pay, a pair of digital ecosystems that blend social media, commerce, and banking. American President Donald Trump, indeed all pro-conservative political leaders are irritated by an upstart media that continually undermines their authority. Whether it is Hungary or Sweden, elected bodies have realised that they either prostitute themselves to privately own media or they confront it as Trump has done. The US president has been warned that if his administration does not control the baseball cap Bolsheviks of Silicone Valley, they will control him and undermine his quest for re-election.

WATCHDOGS ASLEEP AS SUPER-CORPS ABUSE THEIR MONOPOLY

The tech giants are dominant by their buying out potential rivals that might threaten their market share, which they then quarantine. Data compiled by Bloomberg show the big five, Alphabet, Amazon, Apple, Facebook and Microsoft, have made 431 acquisitions worth $155.7 billion over the last decade. The companies also have control over vast amounts of data about their customers, raising concerns about threats to privacy.
