MIGRATION NOT RUSSIA EUROPE’S BIGGEST THREAT

Migration is the biggest threat to the safety of Europeans, the Hungarian defence minister Tibor Benko said ahead of a two-day meeting with his European Union counterparts in Bucharest. Europe, and Hungary specifically, have entered a new phase in terms of security policy, Tibor Benko told MTI. Europe’s security has deteriorated considerably, he said, adding that routine solutions were not adequate for dealing with new types of security challenges.

NATIONALIST ITALY AT WAR WITH FRENCH GLOBALISM

The latest ruckus adds to tensions between the Italian authorities and France, which have on several occasions clashed over the issue of refugees and illegal migration in recent months. Italy’s Ambassador to France Teresa Castaldo was summoned on Monday by European Affairs Minister Nathalie Loiseau’s chief of staff after Deputy Prime Minister Luigi Di Maio accused Paris of being responsible for the migrant crisis, according to a French diplomatic source.
